Although he knew from a very young age that he wanted to pursue a career in the arts, it was only in his late teens, at the age of 19, that Vandré Silveira began the pursuit of his dream. His first contact with studies and the performing arts was in the Professional Theater Course at CEFART (Centro de Formação Artística e Tecnológica), at the Clóvis Salgado Foundation, in Belo Horizonte – MG
His first experience on stage was also in the theater, with the show A Fábrica de Brinquedos, at the invitation of director Rick Alves. In 2006 she moved from Minas Gerais to Rio de Janeiro. From then on, his time in the theater has been marked by classic texts or texts by great authors – such as Festa de Casamento, based on Bertold Brecht’s O Casamento do Pequeno Burguês; Dois Jogos, Sete Jogadores, inspired by fragments from several authors, including Heiner Müller, Franz Kafka, Ingmar Bergman, Van Gogh and Clarice Lispector and Casa Apodrecida, freely inspired by “O Primo Basílio” by Eça de Queirós, among others.
He has also put on productions with his own texts, such as Farnese de Saudade, an “installation show” about the life and work of the Minas Gerais artist Farnese de Andrade, which ran from 2012 to 2018 and won critics, audiences and several awards, such as Best Performance at the Home Theatre Festival in Rio de Janeiro in 2014. “It took me five years to conceive the show and three more years to research it. In 2012, I did two seasons in Rio de Janeiro and in Araguari, the city of Farnese – inside a church; and then, in 2018, we re-staged it at Teatro Poeirinha, in Rio de Janeiro,” he explained.
While in the theater he took part in productions of significant national repercussion, acting under the direction of renowned names on the Brazilian scene, on television he was part of the casts of soap operas, series and drama programs on networks such as Globo and Record, showing his ability to give life to strong, authentic and memorable characters, such as Lázaro, in Jesus, on the São Paulo network. In addition, some of the characters he played, such as the lawyer Tibério Requião, in A Dona do Pedaço; and the laboratory technician Antonio in Vai na Fé, ended up gaining more popularity on Rede Globo. Moreover, he took part in plots such as Viver a Vida, on TV Globo, and Reis, on RecordTV, among others. Besides participating in series such as Carcereiros and 13 Dias Longe do Sol, as well as Caipirinha Sunrise, on Mexico’s TV Azteca, among other works.
He has also made significant appearances in cinema, in features such as Rio Mumbai, by Gabriel Mellin and Pedro Sodré, and the short film Bárbara, in which he played a transvestite. For the role, Vandré won Best Actor at Festivais de Cinema de Maringá, in Paraná ( south of Brazil), and Festival For Rainbow, in Fortaleza. He also won the Popular Jury Award for Best Actor at the Ibero-American Film Festival in Aracaju, Sergipe.
