It was between pirouettes and jumps that Natalia Gonsales has gotten praise and admiration at the age of seven. It was at the Olympic gymnastics that she had her first experience with staging. “I fell from the Olympic bar and pretended to faint. I was a little bit spoiled, had the right to be! After all, i was very young” she laughs. After the incident she started dacing ballet. She developed her body language through the prestigious Black Swan Dance Group.
Her father was an engineer and her mother a housewife. Natalia decided to study Administration at PUC-SP and at the same time she started the theater Nilton Travesso’s course. “It was he who told me that I should be an actress. I took the question to my father, who told me that I was the one who should choose what to do with my life”. It was in this way that the artistic life took me over on my daily basis. Soon afterwards she attended the Sesc/SP Theater Research Center, under the supervision of the premier director Antunes Filho (deceased in 2019).
Natalia has already performed several critically successful shows, such as Carmen (2017/2018), considered one of the best in São Paulo at that time. “Until today they call me Carmencita in the streets”, she says. It was through Festa (2015) that she celebrated her independence. “I completed 30 years on stage”, she recalls. In 2015, she performed in Pulsões, replacing Fernanda de Freitas. “In this performance I went back to doing ballet, but without the pression of being a dancer, I was an actress performing the dance.”
On television, she participated in the series Hard, on HBO, Sai dessa, on Canal Brasil, and Direção III on TV Cultura. In the movies, she collects great performances in Dora and Gabriel (2019), Procurados (2018), Noite Feliz (2016), among others. Natalia is always with some project in her mind. “I host lots of friends and producers in my house very often. I love hosting people in the living room to talk, exchange ideas and organize the next steps”, she says, full of enthusiasm.
