Actor

Marcos Reis likes to say that he adjusts himself anywhere. For more than ten years living in São Paulo, the actor was born and raised in Florianópolis (SC). He carries in his mind the memories of childhood from the beaches of the coast to vacations at the family’s farm in the countryside of the southern state of Brazil. “I don’t miss home, do you know why? Because I left there to pursue my dreams.  To be on the scene is like to be at home. I never feel lonely while carrying out my line of work, “he says. The actor also spent a season in Rio de Janeiro. “It was a joyful period,” he jokes. “I worked close to nature, to the beaches and it really filled my time,” he adds.

This versatility makes Marcos an actor who breathes new life and is constantly searching for challenges. He began to do amateur theater in Florianopolis, at the age of 18, graduated in Social Communication and in Performing Arts at Escola Livre de Teatro, where he founded the group. Soon afterwards, he won the best actor’ award in his first professional theater play at Sumaré / São Paulo Festival, in 2010, with the play “Curral”, inspired by the work “Asfalto Selvagem” by Nelson Rodrigues (1912 – 1980). “I’ve always liked the arts. When I realized it, I was already in, “he says. He stood out in” Pequenos Locaustos “, inspired by Nelson Rodrigues’ work, and” Simples Cidade “, inspired by the modernist writer Guilherme de Almeida’ poems (1890 – 1969).

Regarding to Marcos’s family, his father was a businessman and his mother was a public education teacher and he has two older brothers. His learning arts started at home. “My father likes music, piano, I grew up seeing his relationship with different instruments. My mother always got involved with plastic arts, she loved to paint pictures, “recalls the actor. He learned how to play the accordion from his father. Among his inspirations, he lists names of other generations. “I love Laura Cardoso who still performs beautifully, Paulo José full of life and, among those who are no longer with us such as the master Gianfrancesco Guarnieri.”

Besides acting, his other passion is capoeira, which he has practiced for more than twenty years. “I have a strong involvement with body language. Capoeira is a fantastic art, it taught me how to face the offhands. You never know what you will face, as in the profession, in life … We follow with humility and courage, “he says.  Due to his way of being, he won the nickname “Tocha” in the sport.

Among the challenges that motivate him as a professional, he claims he intends to carry out some copyrighted projects. “I’ve been always looking for new ways. I have my own side, just mine, which is to enjoy writing my own pieces. In the free time, I focus on that, “he says, in constant state of excitement.
