With a diverse career, Carla Daniel is a performer who excels across every artistic discipline she has pursued. An actress, singer, and songwriter, she embraces creative challenges and consistently expands her artistic range. The daughter of renowned director Daniel Filho and the late actress Dorinha Duval, Carla notes that her professional path did not begin through her parents. Although she has always been fascinated by the arts, it was under the guidance of Maria Clara Machado at O Tablado that she truly discovered the craft and saw her passion take shape.
She later continued to refine her skills with some of Brazil’s most respected mentors. At O Tablado, in addition to Maria Clara Machado, she studied with Sura Berditchevsky and Carlos Wilson Damião, while her acting training included studies under Wolf Maya. Her dance education encompassed classical ballet with Eugênia Feodorowa and jazz with Lennie Dale and Marly Tavares. She also trained in singing with Vera Canto e Mello and Pedro Paulo Castro Neves, and in diction with Glorinha Beuttemuller.
Her television debut came in childhood, when she appeared on the segment “Azambuja e Cia” alongside Chico Anysio. Her professional career began in 1984 with the Globo TV telenovela “Partido Alto.” Since then, Carla has built a solid career in Brazilian television, working with some of Globo TV’s most acclaimed writers and directors. Her credits include roductions such as “De Quina Pra Lua” (1985), “Roda de Fogo” (1986), “Bambolê” (1987), “Que Rei Sou Eu?” (1989), “Barriga de Aluguel” (1990), “De Corpo e Alma” (1992), “O Cravo e a Rosa” (2000), “Chocolate com Pimenta” (2003), “Alma Gêmea” (2005), and “Aquele Beijo” (2011). On screen, Carla consistently brings depth and nuance to her characters, often transforming supporting roles into standout performances.
In music, Carla recalls that her first opportunity to sing in a telenovela came in “Bambolê” (1987), when she portrayed Mara, a character inspired by the late singer Nara Leão. She went on to develop a parallel musical career, contributing her voice to the soundtracks of several productions, including “Direito de Amar” (1987), “Bebê a Bordo” (1988), “Que Rei Sou Eu?” (1989), and “Mulher” (1999). Her track “Rendez Vous,” featured on the “Bebê a Bordo” soundtrack, became a highlight on Globo de Ouro, the era’s leading music chart.
In film, Carla has appeared in titles such as “Os Fantasmas Trapalhões” (1987), “A Partilha” (2001), “Se Eu Fosse Você” (2006), “Chico Xavier” (2010), “É Fada” (2016), and “Amarração do Amor” (2021). Most recently, she has taken part in the feature films “O Fanigerado Relacionamento à Distância,” directed by Ana Salles and shot in Lages, Santa Catarina, and “Um Tira da Pesada,” directed by Luan Moreno.
Several of her projects have received major recognition: the series “Mulher” won the APCA Award; “The Rocky Horror Show” received the Sharp Award; and “Os Doze Trabalhos de Hércules” earned the Mambembe Award for Best Children’s Production. In 2012, Carla herself received a special Top of the Business Award in recognition of her lifetime achievements.
