One of the main young actresses in Globo TV's cast, Isis Valverde was born in Aiuruoca, south of Minas Gerais state. Daughter of a biochemist and a lawyer, she dreamt of becoming an actress since she was a little girl. At age 15, she left her city of birth to go to high school in Belo Horizonte, capital of Minas Gerais, where she lived alone for the first time in her life. Her beauty caught the attention of a talent hunter at age 16, while taking a walk in a shopping mall. Working as a model, Isis took part of several advertising campaigns in São Paulo, some of them broadcasted in other countries. Through her portfolio at Ford Models she was invited for some tests at Globo TV. In her debut at Globo TV, in 2006, she brought to life the mysterious Ana do Véu, a young and repressed 19th century woman who unveils a whole new life by getting rid of a bothersome veil in Benedito Ruy Barbosa's Sinhá Moça soap opera. In beginning 2007, Ísis grabbed another opportunity to prove her versatility by playing the part of a prostitute, Telma, in the first few chapters of Paraíso Tropical, another soap opera in Globo TV. Her performance earned her much praise. The lively Rakelly, in the Beleza Pura soap opera, gave the beautiful actress the chance to show her gift for comedy. In Caminho das Índias, as the rebellious Camila, she won the audience's hearts. However, it was the remake of the Ti ti ti soap opera, in which she played the part of sweet and clever Marcela, which changed Ísis from a promising talent into one of the undisputed greatest young stars of Globo TV. In the movies, she's also about to make a shinning debut, in one of the leading roles of René Sampaio's movie Faroeste Caboclo. The film, based on the homonymous song by the Brazilian rock band Legião Urbana, a major hit in the 80s, Ísis is going to play Maria Lúcia, with whom João de Santo Cristo, the main character, falls madly in love. Aware of the huge responsibility and the challenges she must face by once she's chosen the acting career, Ísis strives to get better and better everyday by constantly studying different video and stage techniques, making every effort to obtain the due recognition her talent deserves. |
